Why Bustos and Sons Construction Is Midvale's Leading Kitchen Remodeler
Three Generations of Kitchen Renovation Expertise
Jorge Bustos has been remodeling Midvale kitchens since 2011. In a galley kitchen from the fifties the question is almost always the same one: whether the wall you want gone is carrying load, and what the panel and the waste line will take. We answer that on site, before there is a price on paper.
Midvale-Specific Kitchen Challenges Mastery
- Ranch Home Layout Expertise: We've mastered the art of transforming the galley kitchens and closed-off layouts typical in Midvale's 1950s and 1960s ranch homes, understanding exactly which walls can be safely removed to create today's desired open-concept living.
- Original Construction Knowledge: Intimately familiar with the electrical limitations (many homes still have 60-amp services), plumbing configurations (galvanized pipes and awkward drain placements), and structural systems that define Midvale's housing stock.
- HOA Navigation Excellence: Established relationships with architectural committees in major subdivisions including Bingham Creek, Crescent View, and Canyon Rim, ensuring smooth approval processes for exterior modifications and window replacements.
- Local Building Code Expertise: Current knowledge of Midvale's specific requirements for electrical upgrades, ventilation standards, and structural modifications required during major kitchen renovations.
Complete Kitchen Remodeling Services
Galley Kitchen Transformations
- Opening Cramped Layouts: The narrow galley kitchens found in most of Midvale's post-war homes require specialized knowledge for successful transformation. We conduct thorough structural analysis before removing walls, ensuring safe creation of the open floor plans modern families desire.
- Traffic Flow Optimization: Redesigning the classic "kitchen triangle" to work within the footprints of older homes, creating efficient work zones that maximize functionality without requiring expensive additions.
- Storage Maximization: Custom cabinetry solutions that utilize every available inch, including specialized corner units, pantry optimization, and creative storage for the unique angles found in ranch-style homes.
Open-Concept Kitchen Creation
- Kitchen Island Integration: Designing functional islands that work within existing floor plans, often incorporating the support posts required when removing load-bearing walls into attractive design elements.
- HVAC Integration: Coordinating heating and cooling modifications necessary when opening kitchen spaces to adjacent rooms, ensuring consistent comfort throughout newly connected areas.
Custom Kitchen Design Solutions
- Space Planning Excellence: Working within the constraints of existing footprints to maximize functionality. We specialize in making compact kitchens feel spacious through strategic layout, lighting, and material choices.
- Appliance Integration: Updating electrical systems to handle modern appliance loads while planning layouts that accommodate today's larger refrigerators and ranges within older home dimensions.
- Lighting Design: Transforming typically dark galley kitchens with strategic recessed lighting, under-cabinet illumination, and pendant fixtures that enhance both functionality and ambiance.

- Supply Line Replacement: Updating from original galvanized plumbing to modern PEX systems during kitchen renovations, preventing future leak problems.
- Drain Line Reconfiguration: Modifying plumbing layouts to accommodate island sinks and relocated appliances while maintaining proper drainage.
